I always think it should reflect the intended use of the synopsis and what kind of document your trying to summarise. A synopsis of a novel for a prospective publisher would probably be much longer than one for a book reviewer, for example. Wow - with an opening like that what is not to love! As Long As We Both Shall Live by JoAnn Chaney was a fun, twisty, dark and addictive read for me that I read in a day. This is the first book I have read by this author and I had seen mixed reviews on this one but for me it was brilliant.
